Below are questions hunters frequently ask.
What is your selection of animals? As our inventory levels are subject to constant fluctuation, during our normal busy season we have 100+ Rams, 120+ Hogs of all sizes from 150 pounds to 900 pounds, Fallow Deer, Sika Deer, 40+ super Whitetail Bucks, Elk, 20+ Red Stags, 15 Buffalo, Whitetail Does, Sika Does, Water buffalo, Texas Long horns from 3 to 6 feet wide.
What selection of Whitetails do you have? Again, during our normal busy season, we have 40+ Bucks scoring from cull size Bucks to 200 BC Bucks priced from $750.00 to $10,000.00, Some are as wide as 24”, some have drop-tines and are from 6 to 26 points. (our whitetail prices simply cannot be beat!)
Do you have hunts for meat animals? Yes we have Carolina Hogs, Whitetail Does and Sika Deer Does, Texas Longhorns from 1500 to 1700 pounds, Elk and Stag Cows when available.
What kind of Hogs do you have? We have Black Russian, Red European and Carolina Hogs.
Are there any specials being offered? When available, we are offer Red Stag hunts from $1,250 to $2,250. We have not sold them that cheap for eight years. Who says nothing comes down!
Are there any Summer Specials? From June 1st until August 30th we offer free lodging to all hunters booking at regular price. Non hunters are still $50 for lodging. Discounted hunts such as Jamborees are excluded.
What are your current prices? Our prices have changed very little. Most have stayed the same except Cow Elk and Boars. We now have several prices on Boars from $450 to $750 with some Boars (Carolina hogs) up to 900 pounds.
Is the lodging still $25 per night? Yes lodging is $25 for hunters and $50 for non-hunters plus a $25 grounds fee for non hunters. Breakfast and a hot lunch are included for all.
Can I bring my wife or other family members? Yes we encourage family activities. We have a limited number of private rooms just for couples.
Do you have an age limit for young hunters? No, we leave that up to you. If you feel your children are competent to hunt, who are we to say no. All of our guides are trained on weapon safety and we pass the wisdom on to all our hunting guests, especially young hunters.
Do you have a no kill-no pay policy? Yes, if you do not get an animal you only forfeit your $100 deposit.
Do you have any openings? Yes we usually do have openings although some dates (Saturdays) are often booked full. For best dates to fit your schedule call early. We already have many deposits for 2010 amd 2011.
What is the deposit required? On our normal selection of animals such as Rams, Boars and Does, a $100 deposit will hold your date. Large animals such as Elk, Stags and Whitetail a 25% deposit is requested. Certain other exotics may require additional lead time etc., so please call the lodge with specific questions.
Where is the lodge located? 3261 Elk Lick Rd Everett Pa. 15537. Maps and detailed routes are also available on our Diections page. FYI, a GPS will get you here, but sometimes the long way around.
Can I book a hunt and change my mind on the animal hunted once I get there? Yes it is your hunt. The choice is yours. Many of our guest choose to take additional animals once they see our ranch and all we have to offer.
Can I harvest more than one animal? Yes
Is there a place to shoot my gun or bow? Yes
What are your hunting seasons? There are no seasons. We hunt year round.
Do I need a hunting license for PA.? No license is required on a hunting ranch.
What weapons can I use? Gun, bow, muzzleloader, pistol, ANYTHING, it is your hunt.
What should I tip the guide? That is likely the hardest decision you will make all day. Our guides give 100%. They are here at The Wilderness because they like the outdoors and like to hunt. In our guides eyes a tip is a bonus and is greatly appreciated, but a heart felt thank you means friendship and a job well done.
Is skinning and quartering of the animal included in the price of the hunt? Yes, skinning, quartering and the meat put in your coolers. Ice is available at an additional fee.
Do you have butchering? Yes we have butchering that includes having the meat cut up the way you want it, wrapped, labeled and quick frozen.
Do you offer taxidermy? Yes, but we do not advertise this because many of our clients and friends are taxidermist and we would never want to offend them, the great work they do and the service they provide to the hunting industry.
Do you rent your lodge in the off season? Yes, it has been used for engagement celebrations, honeymoons, bachelor parties, birth days, private getaways, meetings, social events, church youth groups, men’s prayer groups, women’s originations and by hunters just traveling through.
